Traditional Finnish sauna in Mooloolaba

There’s a reason Finnish sauna culture has endured for thousands of years. It’s not a trend. It’s not a biohack. It’s simply one of the most time-tested ways humans have found to feel better, in body and in mind.

At Si, we chose to build traditional Finnish saunas because we believe in doing it properly. Two large, bespoke saunas, each lined inside and out with western red cedar, a timber prized for its natural resistance to heat and humidity, its ability to stay cool to the touch, and the warm, clean scent it releases as it breathes. Each sauna is designed to seat up to eight people comfortably, and we mean comfortably. No shuffling sideways, no knees touching strangers, no feeling like you need to leave before you’re ready. Each is fitted with an oversized electric kiuas, meaning the heat is deep, even and consistent, and recovers quickly after a löyly, the steam that rises when water meets the stones.

This is a sauna the way it was always meant to feel. Spacious enough to settle in, warm enough to properly open up, and unhurried enough to let the experience do its work.

Why traditional?

Infrared saunas have their place, but traditional Finnish saunas operate at higher temperatures with the option of steam, creating a different kind of heat experience, one that works with your body rather than just warming the surface of it. The combination of dry heat and humidity has been studied extensively, and the evidence behind it is compelling.

What regular sauna use can do for you

Heart health

Research suggests that regular sauna use is associated with a meaningfully reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. The heat places a gentle, beneficial demand on the cardiovascular system, similar in some ways to moderate exercise, supporting circulation and heart function over time.

Mental clarity

Heat exposure triggers the release of norepinephrine and other neurochemicals that sharpen focus and lift mood. Many people find that even a single session leaves them feeling clearer and calmer.

Detoxification

Sweating is one of the body’s most natural ways to eliminate what it doesn’t need. A proper sauna session encourages deep, sustained sweating that supports this process.

Sleep

The drop in core body temperature after leaving a hot sauna signals to the body that it’s time to rest. Regular evening sauna use is linked to deeper, more restorative sleep.

Muscle recovery

Heat increases blood flow to tired or sore muscles, helping to clear metabolic waste and speed up the repair process. A staple for athletes, but just as valuable after a long week on your feet.

Menopause symptom relief

Emerging research and lived experience both point to sauna as a genuinely helpful tool for managing menopause symptoms, including mood, sleep disruption and tension. The heat and the ritual of it can offer real, tangible relief.

Come in and take your time

Whether you’re here for the health benefits, the headspace, or simply because you need an hour that belongs entirely to you, the sauna is ready when you are.
